Best Double Jogging Stroller Reviews

BOB Gear Revolution Pro Duallie Jogging Stroller – Editor’s Choice

BOB Gear Revolution Pro Duallie Jogging Stroller - Best Double Jogging Stroller
Source: www.bobgear.com

The first unit in our review is the Revolution Pro Duallie from BOB Gear. It also happens to be our top pick because it has a lot of qualities that make a true best jogging double stroller. If you know the Bob Gear Revolution Flex, it looks quite similar to the Pro. However, the Pro uses a matte black frame and is also on the heavier side.

Shock-Absorbing Wheels

Like a typical jogging stroller, the Revolution Pro has one front wheel and two rear wheels. The rear tires are bigger at 16 x 1.75 inches compared to the one at the front that only measures 12.5 x 1.75 inches. The stroller utilizes these air-filled tires along with polymer wheels and, overall, feels sturdy. They can effortlessly absorb shock, which is a must on a jogging stroller.

Locking Swivel Front Wheel

For added stability regardless of the terrain, you can also lock the swiveling front wheel. If you have read out the buyer’s guide beforehand, you know that this feature will prevent the stroller from going in random directions. You will have an easier time maneuvering it even while jogging at high speed. And at the same time, the fact that you can also set it to swivel will make the stroller usable in tight turns when you aren’t jogging.

Adjustable Suspension System

Another feature that makes this stroller our top pick is its suspension system. The Revolution Pro uses an adjustable mountain bike-style suspension system. You can choose from 3 inches of travel and even 2 stages of weight support with this feature. To make it easier to understand, you can set the suspension system depending on the weight of your children. And other than that, you can adjust it depending on the surface of the terrain.

Adjustable Padded Handlebar

As for the parents, BOB Gear allows height adjustment on its handlebar. You can choose from 9 positions, which we think is excellent for accommodating different caretakers. The handlebar itself is even padded, so it feels comfortable to the hands.

Handbrake and Footbrake

We’re not done yet with the features. Compared to most double jogging strollers in the market, the BOB Gear will obviously stick out on its price range. However, this extra cost also means extra comfort and safety. Other than the features we mentioned above, the Revolution Pro uses both a foot-operated parking brake and a handbrake.

Adjustable Handbrake

Of course, the adjustable handbrake helps with easier control as you run on uneven terrains. You can also set it if you prefer more or less friction. You will feel at ease knowing that it won’t tilt or go in a random direction. Remember that you are running with a packed stroller that holds 2 kids. Going downhill can be dangerous and difficult, so these hand-activated rear drum brakes are excellent to have.

Flip-Flop-Friendly

As for the foot brake, parking the stroller won’t hurt your foot because the piece is easy to push. This is actually a favorite among flip-flop loving parents. Lastly, another safety feature that you can appreciate is the safety wrist strap in case you’ve accidentally let go of the handlebar.

One-Hand Seat Recline

For your kids, reclining the seats is easy, and you can get them either fully upright for sight-seeing or have it nearly horizontal for naps. Simply pull the red loops to adjust the backrest, and release with the button for one-hand adjustment. The seats are also cushioned and utilize no-rethread 5-point harnesses for safety and comfort.

Spacious and Breathable Canopy

Hot summer days won’t be a problem as well because the unit uses a large UPF 50+ canopy on each seat. Although a bit flimsy, these canopies offer massive headrooms. At the same time, their top part is breathable, with the option to close it for winter. You can even adjust the canopies to get better coverage. However, if you’re using the peek-a-boo window, remember to open it gently because the Velcro is quite noisy.

Generous Storage But…

This stroller can accommodate your baby gear with its cargo basket underneath the seat. You can also use the interior seat pockets and seatback pockets for smaller items. But speaking of storage, storing the unit itself may not be as comfortable. The Revolution Pro’s sturdy built also made it bulky and will require some space. Even when folded, it might not fit as smoothly on smaller vehicles. On the bright side, the folding itself is a breeze, and the wrist strap acts as a lock to keep the stroller folded.

Can Be Used as a Travel System

Lastly, you can convert the Revolution Pro into a travel system. Simply purchase the infant car seat adapter, and you can use it for car seats. We found no problem in the overall safety of the car seat and adapter because the locks feel secure.

Pros
  • Heavy-duty built
  • Shock-absorbing wheels with locking front wheel
  • Adjustable suspension system
  • Adjustable handlebar
  • Comes with safety wrist strap
  • Comfortable footbrake
  • Adjustable handbrake
  • One-hand seat recline
  • Spacious headroom
  • Generous storage
  • Folds easily
  • Converts to a travel system
Cons
  • Bulky
  • Flimsy canopy

Baby Jogger City Select Double Stroller – Best for City Living

Baby Jogger City Select Double Stroller Review
Source: www.babyjogger.com

Our next double jogging stroller is the Baby Jogger City Select. However, even though it has the word jogger in its name, this model is not as jogging-oriented as our editor’s choice. Compared to other jogger strollers, the City Select is better if you’re the type of parent who is only doing very light jogging.

Multiple Seat Configurations

What’s unique with the City Select is that it allows multiple seat configurations. You can create up to 16 seat configurations using bassinets, glider board, and car seats. And in case you don’t need a double stroller, you can also use it as a single stroller. Just take note that the accessories, car seats, and bassinet kits are sold separately by Baby Jogger.

For Infants to Toddlers

Because of this various combinations, you can use the City Select as a pram, triple stroller, double stroller, single stroller, and travel system. As you can assume, this makes this unit versatile for the use of infants and older children. Baby Jogger also includes a second seat, and second seat brackets, so you can use it as a double jogging stroller immediately.

Best for City Use

As you can see in the City Select’s double stroller design, it has an inline configuration. In contrast to the usual side-by-side configuration, the stroller is narrower. This makes the City Select excellent for city use because it can fit in crowds and paths.

What’s Lacking?

If you’re looking for a stroller for intense physical activities and rugged terrains, we recommend other units. The reason for this is because the overall built of the City Select might not be able to withstand these conditions.

Although the City Select has air-filled rubber rear wheels and locking swivel front wheels, the latter is plastic. The suspension is also only on its front wheels, so stability during movement is average. Therefore, even though it has the features we mentioned earlier, jogging at full speed with the City Select won’t be smooth.

And because it’s not really a full-fledged jogging stroller, it uses 4 wheels instead of 3. If only the manufacturer used suspension on all wheels and rid of the plastic tires, it might be able to handle jogging better. The good news though, is that this stroller is our best pick for city life because of its size, and it can still handle urban areas.

Adjustable Handlebar

The rubberized handlebar of the City Select is adjustable, and its size is quite helpful for controlling the stroller. It also uses a hand-operated parking brake, which is easy to reach at the right side of the frame. However, this brake does require some strength to use.

Reclining Seats and Adjustable Footrests

As for the seats, you’ll get the usual reclining and padded features. You can choose from 3 positions, and for added comfort, you can adjust the footrest’s length and angle. But compared to the first stroller, the City Select’s harness needs rethreading to adjust its height. Regardless, the built of the seats themselves feel durable, and adjusting its parts won’t make you lose your temper.

Quiet Canopies and Generous Storage

The canopies of this unit are adjustable and complete with a peek-a-boo window. They are UV 50+, and won’t wake your baby when you open them because they use a magnetic closure. Then, for your children’s essentials, the basket at the bottom is convenient to access and can hold up to 15 pounds. You can also use the mesh pocket at the back of the seat.

Two-Hand Folding

How convenient is the City Select for traveling and storing? Sadly, we also find drawbacks in these areas. Since you’re using it as a double stroller, you have to remove the second seat. This removal is smooth, but there will be other steps to fold the stroller.

You also have to be wary when you collapse the unit because it folds quickly. We think the weight of the stroller adds to the difficulty in these areas, so it might still depend on the users. Although, once it is folded and locked, the City Select can fit easily in vehicles.

Pros
  • Narrow
  • Multiple seat combinations
  • Can be used as a travel system
  • Can be used with a glider board
  • Can be used by from infancy to toddlerhood
  • Adjustable handlebar
  • Adjustable seats and footrests
  • Quiet peek-a-boo window
Cons
  • Only usable for very light jogging
  • Most accessories are sold separately
  • Folding takes effort
  • Rethread harness

BOB Stroller Strides Fitness Duallie Jogging Stroller – Best Double Jogging Stroller for Runners

BOB Stroller Strides Fitness Duallie Jogging Stroller – Best Double Jogging Stroller for Runners
Source: www.bobgear.com

Our third double jogging stroller also comes from the manufacturer of our top pick, which is BOB Gear. This time, we have the Strides Fitness Duallie jogging stroller. This particular model is our top pick for parents who want a jogging stroller that is aimed for physical activities. Just because you have a family with 2 children doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice fitness, right?

Fitness-Ready

What makes the Strides Fitness as “fitness-oriented” is the fact that you’ll get a kit upon purchase. This kit includes a coupon for Stroller Strides fitness classes, a Stroller Strides exercise manual, two SPRI fitness resistance bands, and a handlebar console.

In short, you will also know the types of exercises you can do with your stroller! The handlebar console, on the other hand, adds convenience for the active parent because it can hold your drinks and other running items.

Locking Swivel Front Wheel

But how does it performs as a jogging stroller? You can expect features such as a locking swivel front wheel for better maneuvering and stability. As we have mentioned in our previous strollers earlier, a swiveling wheel that locks offers versatility. The swiveling motion is useful for tight spots, and locking it is great for jogging on rough terrain.

Dual Rear Brake

The tires themselves are also air-filled, and the suspension system of the Strides Fitness does not fall short. And as for the brake, the stroller uses a footbrake on the two rear wheels for parking.

Adjustable Handlebar and Seats

Like our top pick, the Strides Fitness has a 9-level padded handlebar. The adjustment itself feels smooth, and this is also true when adjusting the seats. Speaking of which, you can also opt to recline the seat almost flatly for naps or get it upright for sight-seeing. The unit also uses a breathable UPF 50+ canopy for each seat, so your children are protected against the UV rays.

Travel System-Ready

The Strides Fitness is travel system ready as well. You can purchase the car seat adaptor so you can use it with other brands such as Britax. And what’s nice with this adaptor is that you can also utilize it for adding a snack tray.

Overall, the Strides Fitness is definitely targeting a market of parents who want an active lifestyle. We are pleased with the overall built and features of the stroller, so using it for jogging in tough terrain is going to be doable. However, note that this unit is quite bulky, and folding and unfolding it can take some effort.

Pros
  • Comes with a coupon for Stroller Strides fitness classes, a Stroller Strides exercise manual, two SPRI fitness resistance bands, and a handlebar console
  • Locking front swivel wheel
  • Dual rear brake
  • Adjustable handlebar
  • Adjustable seats
  • Can be converted into a travel system
Cons
  • Bulky
  • Tricky folding/unfolding

Baby Jogger Summit X3 Double Jogging Stroller – Best for Everyday Use

Baby Jogger Summit X3 Double Jogging Stroller Review
Source: www.babyjogger.com

If you’re looking for a double jogging stroller that you can use daily, consider this model from Baby Jogger. For starters, the Summit X3 is a good-looking unit. It has a 12-inch pneumatic tire at the front and bigger16-inch rear tires at the back.

Remote Swivel Lock

What’s very convenient with this stroller is how easy you can lock its front wheel. We all know earlier that this feature is a must on any jogging stroller for easy maneuvers. And with the Summit X3, you can access this locking feature right at the handlebar. This is also the reason why we crowned this model as the best double jogging stroller for everyday use.

How convenient is that? The control is a lever mounted on the handlebar, and all you have to do is flip it to lock the front wheel. This position makes it easier to “convert” your unit from a stroller to a jogger. Imagine using the swiveling front wheel during a walk in the park, and then conveniently lock it once you’re in the jogger’s lane. No more kneeling and hurting your back.

All-Wheel Suspension System

As for the quality of the ride, your kids won’t feel that much bumps because the Summit X3 uses an all-wheel suspension system. You can also safely control the stroller on uneven terrain because of its hand-operated rear drum brakes. The footbrake, on the other hand, may not be comfortable for flip-flop wearers.

Non-Adjustable Handlebar

The handlebar’s height of the stroller is also not adjustable. We would’ve preferred it better if Baby Jogger has allowed multiple positions for the comfort of the caretaker. But on the bright side, it does have a good grip, and it is easy to clean because the handlebar is not made of foam.

Reclining Seats with Adjustable Harness

As for the seats of your children, thankfully, Baby Jogger allows them to be adjustable. Like our previous models, you can get them to recline almost flat for naps or have them upright if your kids want to observe around. The 5-point harness for each seat will also comfortably keep your children in place because you can adjust them.

Breathable and Quiet Canopies

The canopy of both seats is breathable and complete with peek-a-boo windows and side vents. They are both spacious, and the windows themselves don’t make too much noise when you open them.

As for storage, you can keep your baby gear and personal items in the seat back pockets and basket underneath the stroller. Lastly, the Summit X3 boasts a one-hand quick fold technology. However, we think that most users can agree that it’ll take two hands to unfold and fold the stroller with ease.

Pros
  • Remote front wheel lock
  • All-wheel suspension system
  • Good grip on handlebar
  • Quality rear-drum brakes
  • Reclining seats with adjustable harness
  • Quiet peek-a-boo windows
  • Breathable canopies
Cons
  • Handlebar is not height adjustable
  • Footbrake can be tough for flip-flop wearers
  • Tricky to fold/unfold

Baby Jogger City Mini Double Stroller – Best Lightweight Double Jogging Stroller

Baby Jogger City Mini Double Stroller Review
Source: www.babyjogger.com

We are halfway in our review, and the unit we have is the City Mini double stroller from Baby Jogger. Even though it doesn’t have the same inline orientation of the Baby Jogger City Select Double Stroller earlier, the City Mini does have some similarities with it.

Double Stroller, Pram, or Travel System

For example, you can buy additional accessories if you want to use the City Mini as a pram or as a travel system using adapters. However, it would’ve been nicer is it already comes with a parent console like the Strides Fitness. In this case, you can buy it separately, including a cooler bag.

What We Don’t Like

Like the previous Baby Jogger stroller, we do not recommend the City Mini for heavy joggers. Controlling this stroller at full speed will not be as easy considering it uses 4 wheels instead of the usual 3 for jogging. Not to mention, the front wheels are also made of plastic instead of rubber.

Weighing Under 30 Pounds

Another drawback for parents is the handlebar of this unit. Like our preceding stroller, the City Mini does not offer height adjustments on its handlebar. We also notice that the single-action footbrake is not as easy to use if you are not wearing shoes. But for some very light jogging, being under 30 pounds and having front suspension makes the stroller comfortable to use.

Comfortable and Easy Clean Seats

Compared to the City Select, we must commend the City Mini’s seats. They are somewhat softer and more breathable even though you cannot adjust their footrest. And like other models in this review, you can recline the seats nearly flat as well. As for cleaning, both the seat and canopies are washable, and we found no problem removing them.

Seamless Harness Rethreading

The seats utilize rethread harnesses. But don’t be discouraged because the shoulder straps are easy to adjust and offers 4 height levels. This is also true about their crotch strap, and the overall tightening of the harness is smooth. As for the UV50+ canopies, they each have a peek-a-boo window that is adjustable, but be wary of the Velcro because it can wake your baby up when opened harshly.

For your storage, you’ll get the usual seat back storage and basket underneath the stroller. However, they are not as generous compared to our other units, which might be because it aims to be a lightweight stroller.

Folding the stroller for travel is not going to test your patience. Pretty much all you have to do is lift the fabric handle once you removed the safety straps. The stroller is capable of self-standing and auto-locking, but unfolding it afterward is not a one-hand job. Nonetheless, both folding and unfolding is fast.

Pros
  • Lightweight
  • Can be used as a pram or travel system
  • Adjustable canopy
  • Comfortable and washable seats
  • Reclining seats
  • Easy to adjust harness
  • Easy to fold/unfold
  • Auto-stands and auto-locks once folded
Cons
  • Not for heavy jogging
  • Handlebar is not adjustable
  • Medium capacity storage

Baby Trend Navigator Lite Double Jogger Stroller – Best in Stroller to Jogger Conversion

Baby Trend Navigator Lite Double Jogger Stroller Review
Source: www.babytrend.com

Sturdy

Even though Baby Trend named this double jogging stroller as Navigator Lite, it is still not as lightweight as our previous model. In fact, it tends to be bulky and might take space on the sidewalk or in your car once folded. However, the construction of the unit itself feels durable, which is better than being flimsy so that it can be lightweight.

A Bit Choosy?

Sadly, if you want to use this stroller with your car seats, you have to take note that it only accepts Baby Trend models. This can be a drawback for some families who already have other brands, and it’s not economical if you have to purchase other seats. But on the bright side, the Navigator Lite can accommodate two car seats easily.

Remote Release on Front Wheel

The Navigator Lite has a front swivel wheel that you can lock but also releases remotely like the Summit X3. This is an excellent feature for on-the-go parents who want to use this unit for walks and then immediately for jogging. Overall, we are actually impressed with how easy it is to maneuver the stroller even though it has some weight and width to it.

Easy to Maneuver

However, do take note that the handlebar that it uses is not height adjustable. Nonetheless, it’s comfortable to use and navigate through turns. The stroller also has a wrist strap in case you accidentally let go of the handle.

No Handbrake

But you won’t find any handbrake. Instead, you can only use a parking brake on each rear wheel. If you’re jogging on steep terrain, this lack of additional control can be problematic. On the contrary, we like that Baby Trend added footrest reflectors so you can notify upcoming vehicles or people.

Adjustable Seats and Canopy

As for the seats themselves, you can recline them and adjust the 5-point harness. The harness was secured, and they are also quick to unlatch. If you have younger children, we recommend using the restraint bar as well for added safety measure. Speaking of safety, you can also adjust the canopy for each seat and follow the sunshade to keep your children protected from UV.

Comes with Covered Parent Tray

What about the storage? The Navigator Lite has a parent tray with covered compartment. We appreciate this because since it’s covered, you can protect your valuables from the elements or prevent them from falling off. It also comes with 2 cup holders that are quite deep, although be careful of spillage.

Pros
  • Sturdy built
  • Easy to maneuver
  • Remote release on front wheel
  • Can accommodate 2 car seats
  • Has footrest reflectors and wrist strap for added safety
  • Adjustable seat, harness, and canopies
  • Parent tray with covered compartment and 2 cup holders
  • Spacious basket and pocket
Cons
  • Bulky
  • Handlebar not adjustable
  • Only compatible with Baby Trend car seats
  • No handbrake

Baby Trend Navigator Double Jogger Stroller – Best Double Jogging Stroller for Infant and Toddler

Baby Trend Navigator Double Jogger Stroller Review
Source: www.babytrend.com

Our next two double jogging strollers also happen to be from Baby Trend. But for now, let us focus on our choice for parents who want to use a jogging stroller with their infant and toddler. The model that we are talking about is the Navigator from Baby Trend.

What’s the Difference with Navigator Lite?

As you can notice, the previous stroller is the “lite” version of this model. If you’re wondering about their differences, the Navigator Lite has one front wheel, whereas this model has two. The Lite also comes with bumper bars for the seats and has a smaller, sharper triangular front fender.

Comes with Child Tray, Speakers, and Carrying Handle

And with the Navigator, you will get additional features such as child trays with cup holders and speakers with MP3 connection. We also like that it has a carrying handle for added convenience when you travel with the folded stroller.

55-Pound Limit

Back to our review, the Navigator is our choice for families with infants and toddlers. The reason for this is because it has a 55-pound limit perfect for toddlers, and it can accommodate infant car seats. However, just like the previous Navigator Lite, you can only use Baby Trend infant car seat with this stroller. And if you do, you can use 2 car seats at once.

What We Don’t Like

How does the Navigator “navigates”? We are pleased that the stroller managed to live up to its name. It is indeed bulky and wide for tight spaces, but it can handle uneven terrain. Both the front wheels have shocks, and with the flip of the switch, you can lock them for improved maneuverability while jogging.

Sadly, you can’t adjust the handlebar height of the Navigator, and we would’ve preferred if Baby Trend made the stroller an all-wheel suspension. It also has no handbrake, and you have to press both pedals to get into full brake engagement. Releasing them is also quite stiff, which is more difficult if you’re on your flip-flops.

Adjustable Canopies, Harnesses and Reclining Seats

The seats, on the other hand, are nicely padded, with height-adjustable harnesses and reclining features. The reclining itself requires both hands, but we can consider it average when it comes to ease of use. The canopies of both seats can also ratchet so you can follow the direction of the sunlight or wind. Their peek-a-boo windows even open with hook and loop, so they’re quieter than Velcro.

Parent Tray with Covered Compartment and Cup Holders

Another reason why this stroller is great for infants and toddlers is because it has child trays with 2 cup holders. These trays also have indentations in the middle for toys and snacks. And for the parent, you’ll also get 2 cup holders and covered compartment on your tray. But what’s unique with Navigator is that it has MP3 plug-in speakers. This is a nice addition for children of all ages to keep them engaged while walking/jogging.

The basket underneath the stroller can fit most diaper bags, and you can also use the back pocket for additional storage. Once you’re done, you can fold the Navigator, and lock it manually. It will stand on its own and these steps are straightforward to do. However, the overall bulk of the stroller may add to the difficulty of folding/unfolding.

Pros
  • Can fit 2 infant car seats at once
  • 55-pound weight limits
  • Child and parent trays with cup holders
  • Covered compartment and mp3 speakers on parent tray
  • With carrying handle
  • Good basket size
  • Quiet peek-a-boo windows
  • Adjustable harnesses and canopies
  • Reclining seats
Cons
  • Bulky
  • No handbrake
  • Stiff footbrake
  • Stationary handlebar

Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger Stroller – Best Value for Money

Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger Stroller Review
Source: www.babytrend.com

Our next double jogger stroller is our top choice if you want to get the most of your money. In fact, it even comes at a fairly affordable price. We’re talking about the Expedition model from Baby Trend.

All-Terrain with Rubber Tires at an Affordable Price

Of course, nothing beats buying an all-terrain stroller if your specific purpose is to use it on tougher environments. However, at this price point, Baby Trend actually offers the Expedition stroller with all-terrain, pneumatic bicycle tires. More so, they even went with using rubber instead of plastic.

This overall built is excellent in terms of usage from gravel to grass surfaces. And because the wheels are large, it can handle uneven surfaces with ease as well. However, the stroller has a wide profile, so you might have a hard time fitting it through narrow spaces.

What’s Lacking?

Another comment that we have with the Expedition is that you can’t adjust its handlebar. It is also not comfortable to maneuver if you plan on holding the stroller with just one hand. But on the bright side, it has a wrist strap for added safety reinforcement.

As you can expect, the swiveling front wheel of the Expedition also locks. This is quite essential for a jogging stroller, so you can keep the unit in a straight path while running. However, the Expedition lacks a handbrake, which would’ve been useful for hilly surfaces. Instead, you will need to press both pedals to activate the rear brakes.

If you’re wearing sandals, setting and releasing them can also be difficult. We’re also disappointed that Baby Trend does not add a suspension system in this stroller. But you can’t beat its price because it’s an all-terrain stroller with rubber wheels.

Easy to Adjust Harness

As for the seats, you can expect that they recline and have adjustable 5-point harnesses. Tightening the straps is easy, and rethreading their shoulder height is at par with our previous models. It is also worth mentioning that you don’t have to worry about the harness releasing because the clips will need pressure to release.

Single Canopy

Compared to our previous strollers, the Expedition opt to use one rotatable canopy. It would’ve been better if each child got their own for more efficient protection. Nonetheless, it still has mesh window for breathability and hook and loop closure for peaking.

Generous Storage

Like the previous Baby Trend Navigator, this stroller has a parent tray complete with two cup holders and covered compartment. Your baby essentials will also fit well in the bin underneath the stroller or in the mesh pockets located at each seat backs. And if you’re worried about your items’ safety, these pockets do tighten via their strings.

Folds and Unfolds Easily

How does it fold for travel and storage? Well, expect that you’ll use both hands to fold the Expedition. You also have to manually lock it afterwards, and overall it’ll take you 4 steps to fold the stroller compact. You can also remove the tires quickly if you want to shed more size.

Pros
  • Affordable
  • All-terrain
  • Rubber wheels
  • With wrist strap
  • Secure harness
  • Easy to recline seats
  • Folds and unfolds easily
  • Generous storage
Cons
  • Only one canopy
  • No handbrake
  • Foot brakes are not comfortable to use
  • Handlebar is not adjustable

Clevr Deluxe 3-in-1 – Best Tow-Behind Double Jogging Stroller

We are close to finishing our list, and our last two double jogging strollers come in the form of enclosed trailer types. But first, let us take a look at the Clevr Deluxe 3-in-1. What makes it a 3-in-1?

Stroller, Jogger, and Bike Trailer in one

The Clevr Deluxe allows families to use it as a stroller, jogger, or bike trailer by removing the front wheel. However, it is important to know that the bike trailer feature won’t be compatible with a quick-release bike.

You can lock the front wheel as you would in a typical jogging stroller. And if you opt to just use it for walks, you can let it swivel. Since this review is about double jogging strollers, let’s talk about its performance on that feature.

Locking Front Swivel Wheel

The locked swivel front wheel works above average, but for intense jogging, you can feel that it tends to move a bit. But then again, if you need a stroller for such intensity, consider a higher-end jogger.

Rear Suspension and Handbrake

The Clevr Deluxe uses a suspension system and handbrake. By now, you know that these features are very useful for a jogger. They allow a more comfortable and safer experience for both the user and passengers. Basically, the former lessens the bumpiness of the ride, while the former gives better maneuverability on various terrains.

Adjustable Handlebar

We are also pleased that Clevr made their handlebar adjustable so every caretaker can comfortably grip and push it around. Overall, pushing the stroller around feels effortless, but we recommend using both hands.

Comes with Universal Bike Hitch

If you want to use the stroller as a trailer, you can just remove the front wheel and extend the bar. And the good thing is that Clevr already includes a universal hitch that you can use on your bike’s rear wheel for connection. And as a standalone trailer, you don’t have to worry about your children’s safety because it will remain upright regardless of the bike.

Safety Reinforcements

The other safety features that are worth mentioning are the safety flag, reflectors, and safety strap. The former two will notify any upcoming person or vehicle, while the safety strap is always a nice additional safety reinforcement for joggers.

Spacious Cabin and Storage

The inside of the unit itself is spacious, and even its foot area is deep enough to keep kids comfortable. Your kids can even make use of the small pockets below their windows for additional storage. For other items, you can also use the space at the back exterior of the unit.

Tinted Windows and Breathable Canopy

Velcro straps are holding the canopy and mesh in place, and we appreciate the tinted plastic windows, especially when you’re using the unit as a trailer. And in terms of comfort, the seats are breathable thanks to the mesh behind the seat belts and canopy.

This way, even if you’re in a harsher environment, your children are safe from the temperature and other factors. And in case of sweltering weather, you can always take the top cover off and just use the mesh.

In terms of portability and storage, you can collapse the Clevr Deluxe to get it at 36 x 28 x 9. It doesn’t require any tools to do that, and setting it up again is also as easy.

Pros
  • With handbrake, rear suspension, and locking front wheel
  • Easy to maneuver as a jogger
  • Adjustable handlebar
  • Includes universal bike hitch
  • Has safety flag, reflectors, and safety strap
  • Spacious cabin and storage
  • Easy to fold
Cons
  • Not for intense jogging

Instep Quick-N-EZ – Best Affordable Double Jogging Stroller

Instep Quick-N-EZ Double Jogger Stroller Review
Source: www.instep.net

Jogger, Stroller, and Trailer

Our last double jogging stroller is also a tow-behind unit. This time, it is the Instep Quick-N-EZ. Similar to our previous unit, you can also use this trailer as a jogging stroller using its front wheel and rear handle attachments. Otherwise, simply attach Instep onto your bike, and you’re kids are good to go.

Sturdy Frame But…

The overall built of this model feels sturdy thanks to having a steel frame. And as a double jogging stroller, you won’t have any problem controlling the model because the wheels do not produce much resistance.

However, if there is a drawback to this model, we noticed that users complain about the tires wearing out over time. The front wheel also does not lock, which makes it trickier to use for jogging. Therefore, we advise you to check other jogging strollers if you want to do heavy physical activities.

Brakes Could Be Better

Another feature that we don’t like in the InStep is how much effort it requires for the parking brake. Instead of a simple foot brake that you’ll just step on, you have to use the brake strap to attach the rear wheels onto the trailer frame.

Generous Cabin and Storage

What about its cabin? Instep can easily accommodate 3 children comfortably. And similar to the Clevr, it also has interior pockets for additional storage. Besides these pockets, you can also use the external space for other baby gears.

2-in-1 Canopy

To protect your children as they ride, you can use the canopy fully for cold or rainy days. At the same time, the stroller also has a mesh canopy for hot days. Either way, the cabin is still breathable thanks to its rear vent window.

Lastly, the InStep collapses almost flat, and you can remove the wheels for a smaller footprint. However, some users still find it quite bulky.

Pros
  • Can be used as a jogger or trailer
  • Sturdy frame
  • Wheels are easy to maneuver
  • Spacious cabin and storage
  • 2 in 2 canopy
  • Collapses with quick-release wheels
Cons
  • Questionable tire durability
  • Front wheel doesn’t lock
  • Not for heavy jogging
  • A tad bulky

Buyer’s Guide

Types of Double Jogging Stroller

  • Basic Double Jogging Strollers

A basic double jogging stroller, from the name itself, is a straightforward jogging stroller. It is suitable for parents who want to do some light running. If you want a model that can handle some jogging and long walks, this stroller is for you. Think of this type as a regular stroller, but with some minor modifications to handle jogging.

Basic double jogging strollers can handle most types of terrain. At the same time, you’d get the usual features, such as an undercarriage storage space and reclining padded seats. However, they are not as light as a professional double jogging stroller. Overall, if you’re just starting out on using a double jogging stroller, this type is for you.

  • Professional Double Jogging Strollers

A professional double jogging stroller, on the other hand, is the epitome of what a double jogging stroller should be. Manufacturers have specifically designed them for regular jogging and fast fogging.

For example, a professional unit might even offer special wheels or configurations for handling physical activities. You will often notice larger front wheels, which adds to the ease of maneuvering during running, especially in a fast phase. And compared to the first type, a professional double jogging stroller has a better suspension system, brakes, and tether system.

  • Enclosed Double Jogging Strollers/Tow-Behind

Another type of double jogging stroller that you’ll find in the market is the tow-behind or enclosed models. You can simply attach the stroller on a bicycle’s rear and convert it into a trailer. And compared to the previous two, tow-behind strollers/trailers are enclosed and may utilize up to 4 wheels.

Because of their design, you can use it if you want to bring your child along with you on skiing or bike rides. Being enclosed even makes it safer for your children because it protects them from the elements. You can also choose from collapsing and non-collapsing strollers. Of course, the former is more convenient for storage and transport, so your choice depends on your lifestyle.

Difference Between Standard Double Strollers and Double Jogging Strollers

The most straightforward explanation here is that a double jogging stroller has design modifications to make running more comfortable. For example, it has a larger leg room so you can achieve longer strides without hitting it. At the same time, its wheels are also larger with a better braking system to match whatever speed you’re going for.

You will also notice that double jogging strollers have one locking wheel in front and two wheels at the back. This configuration makes it easy to run with the stroller because the front wheel won’t swivel haphazardly and get you off track. However, you’ll still get two seats to accommodate two children as you would with a standard double stroller.

Factors to Consider When Buying a Double Jogging Stroller

Wheels

  • Locking Front Wheel

The first feature that you can check is if the model has a locking front wheel. As we have mentioned earlier, a double jogging stroller has one front wheel and two rear wheels. If you think about it, if the front does not lock, it will swivel in multiple directions when you run. With added speed, you run the risk of tilting the stroller in case it turns sharply. This is dangerous, considering you’re already pushing two children at once.

In contrast, if you got the front wheel locked, it will stabilize the stroller and keep you in a straight path when running. This gives you better control in directions, regardless of the terrain and speed. However, you might want to opt for a stroller that you can also unlock the front wheel.

If it offers these two front wheel configuration, you’ll have an easier time using the stroller in any setting. What we mean by this is once you’re not jogging anymore, you will need a swiveling front wheel for smoother movement. This is great for walks or short trips, making the model versatile.

  • Pneumatic Rubber Wheels

Of course, the quality of the wheels themselves plays a significant factor in the unit’s overall quality. Remember that you’ll be using the stroller for jogging. And add this to the fact that it will be carrying two babies on different terrains. We recommend pneumatic rubber wheels because they can take pressure and are generally easier to fix compared to plastic wheels.

  •  Wheel Traction

The treads of double jogging strollers are also worth considering. Depending on the environment that you’ll be using the stroller in, you can choose from either knobby or smooth wheels. The former is great for rugged and difficult terrain, while the latter is excellent for maneuvering the stroller in tight spaces.

Safety

You’ll be running with two babies at once, so naturally; safety is a factor that you cannot neglect. The added speed, pressure, and bumpy rides could affect your children’s safety if you chose the wrong model. Make sure that the stroller you’re getting has similar height and weight requirements fit to your babies.

Typically, children have to be at least 6 or 8 months old before you can use a jogger for them. If it is your first time, make sure you practice with them on smooth and easy paths first to get comfortable with the stroller.

You should also look for a good-quality harness system for both kids. We recommend a 5-point harness because it offers excellent movement restriction and holds the child in place better. This way, regardless of the movement, the children will stay in a comfortable and safe position.

Other than the seat safety, you may also want a strap that allows you to keep the stroller in your body. Most models may either utilize a hand or waist strap, and they act as a reinforcement in case you accidentally let go of the handle.

Lastly, make sure the stroller has working brakes. Depending on the model, you might find a foot or hand-activated braking system. This gives you added control on maneuvering the stroller on a downhill path or parking it into place.

Comfort of the Kids

Besides safety, you have to make sure that your children feel comfortable in the stroller. Earlier, we’ve mentioned how different strollers also have different recommended height and weight range.

Getting the correct model means your children can use the stroller safety. But using the age/weight/height-appropriate stroller also means your children will feel comfortable throughout your walk, or jog, for that matter.

Imagine if your children are tall and exceeding the stroller’s height. They won’t be able to sit properly since they won’t have enough headroom. Not to mention, the sitting area might even make them feel squished.

  • Reclining and Padded Seat

A feature that can also help your kids’ comfort is if the seats recline. If you can adjust the seat at an angle, your children can take a nap while you’re jogging. And if the seat is not fixed in a reclined position, you can set it upright if your children prefer to look around their surroundings.

Since we’re talking about comfort, make sure that the seat is padded as well. This is pretty self-explanatory, because who would want to stay in a rock-hard seat for long durations? The cushioning of the seat also adds to safety because it helps with the posture of the children sitting on it.

  • Suspension System

Your children can absorb and feel the shock when you are on rugged trails. It will also make it more difficult for you to control the stroller. To solve this, make sure that your double jogging stroller has a quality suspension system. This will absorb the shock for you, so your children experience a smoother ride. And as we have discussed earlier, a front-locking wheel and pneumatic rubber wheels all add to the quality and stability of the ride.

  • Independent Adjustable Canopies

Double jogging strollers can accommodate two kids at once. So naturally, you have to consider the comfort of each child. Therefore, look for the units that have individual canopies for each seat. Having their own canopy will protect them from the elements and UV more efficiently.

And if your unit has peek-a-boo windows, you won’t end up disturbing the other child when you check on his/her sibling. And as for the canopies themselves, make sure they are made of breathable material and offer at least an SPF 50.

Comfort of the Parent

The best double jogging stroller should also be comfortable to use by the caretaker. For starters, you don’t want to be slouching down onto the handlebar, nor reaching high to grab it. You can opt for models with an adjustable handlebar, so you can keep an upright posture while using the stroller. Not to mention, the handle should also feel comfortable to grab onto without straining your wrists.

If your stroller has an adjustable handle, you can customize it depending on who will be using the stroller. This way, everyone can feel comfortable when it’s their turn to use the stroller, and you won’t have to buy another one.

You can also check if it has adequate space for your foot. You might be doing some light jogging, and therefore, the area should accommodate your strides. It’s not fun to be losing breathe downhill and then also accidentally hitting your foot against the stroller.

Storage

Whether you’re going jogging or not, it’s a must for your stroller to have a storage space. Take into consideration the fact that you’ll be out with two kids. That means you have to bring twice the amount of items such as diapers, wipes, toys, and sippy bottles.

If your unit has enough storage space for these baby supplies, you’re also lessening the amount of items that you have to carry separately. And if you are jogging, the last thing you want is to carry 2 or 3 bags besides the stroller itself.

We recommend that you look for a stroller with compartments that vary in size. You’ll have an easier time organizing each item, and you can grab them quickly when needed. Your children will also appreciate any additional cup holders and trays for keeping some items within reach.

However, you should also be aware of open compartments because they might end up spilling your baby gear while running.

Portability and Ease of Storage

Like with any other stroller, it would be convenient if your double jogging stroller folds easily and compact. If its folding mechanism is easy to use, you won’t lose patience every time you’re unfolding and folding the unit. Actually, some brands boast that their stroller folds with just one hand, which is attractive for multi-tasking parents of two.

You might also look out for models that have removable parts, so they decrease in size for easier storage. This way, you can keep your stroller neatly regardless of your available space. Not to mention, something with a small footprint works best for families with smaller vehicles.
